The history of the Company began in 1960, when the Villar Hernández family started the construction of a small cold cuts factory. From its origins, Villar has had a distinctly family character, initiated by D. Florentino Villar Calvo (1st generation) along with all his children. In the middle of the 80’s, the managing was taken by D. Florentino and D. Rogelio Villar Hernández (2nd generation). Currently, the 3rd generation of Villar family along with other professionals are in charge of the business. Throughout these years and from generation to generation, the spirit that has presided over the business project of the Group, it has always been to promote the economic and social development of the province of Soria.

Villar Group has more than 50 years of experience in the selection, aging, and elaboration of products derived from Iberian and white pork of the highest quality, and nowadays it is a benchmark in the Spanish meat sector.

In December 2018, Industrias Cárnicas Villar was acquired by Costa Business Group, becoming part of the meat holding company, Costa Food Group. An operation that reinforces the structure of Villar, guaranteeing the supply chain from the source to the consumer.

Costa Food Group is one of the national leaders in pork production and one of the main livestock in Europe. Through its companies, it maintains a transversal commitment for quality, linked to the maximum respect for the care of the product.


Villar currently has two production plants on his property, located in Los Rábanos (Soria) and in Burguillos del Cerro (Badajoz). All the guidelines and processes of the agri-food chain are carried out there, with a perfect combination of tradition and innovation.

The main plant of Los Rábanos has 47 curing rooms for ham and shoulders and 28 curing rooms for “cold cuts”, controlled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, with an exclusive and independent building for the transformation and slicing of products. From its advanced Distribution and Logistics Center, it is supplied to all national and international clients.

In the plant of Burguillos del Cerro (Badajoz) all the processes of elaboration of the Iberian products are made, many of them marked with the prestigious Denomination of Origin “Dehesa de Extremadura” seal. A privileged place immersed in a meadow of oaks and cork oaks, which enjoys the fresh and clean air of the Sierra Extremadura during the months of stay in the cellar.


Grupo Villar has as a fundamental axis of its Social Responsibility practices to improve the habits and health of its consumers. In recent years, we have supported different institutions with donations and participated in programs to promote healthy eating habits, being a collaborator company of the Spanish Heart Foundation.

The international activity has become in recent years one of the strategic axes of the company, with a commercial presence in more than 30 countries, highlighting Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Belgium, Norway and Denmark.

In addition, it maintains a strong presence in such demanding markets as Canada, Australia, Mexico, Central America, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong.
